John J. Cheney (middle) was born 9/29/1866 in Alabama to parents William M. Cheney and Sarah Elizabeth Robinson. Grandfather was famed Dr. John Lisbon Cheney of Monroe County, GA. Married to Georgia Lavicie Shepherd of Monroe County, GA. Had 2 sons and 4 daughters. He worked his entire career at Macon Telegraph as a linotype printer. Died 2/8/1946. According to death certificate, he was hit by a car on 1/23/1946 and died 2-1/2 weeks later of complications related to a shoulder wound. Senility also listed as a contributing factor related to the accident. This is the last known photograph taken of him. |
