This composition honors the memory of Christopher Claiborne Hudson 1879 - 1957 and Annie Lavalia Marston-Hudson 1870 - 1927. They reared 6 sons including Braxson Edward Hudson 1901 - 1963, father of Lucille Hudson-Stangeland. At the age of 12 Christopher started working with his father cutting dead pine wood and selling it for firewood to steamboat operators in Pensacola. He later worked in a logging camp in Wright Florida (pictured with his oxen in the inset). He also worked at the Bagdad lumber mill. Before area bridges were built he became a licensed boat captain in 1937 and transported passengers and cargo from Milton to Pensacola. He also served as pastor at a church in the Niceville/Valparaiso area. (Thanks Lillian Pleasant for this valuable life info about C.C.) |
