At the residence of the bride’s mother, on Thursday, November 12th inst. Mr. William Bateman to Miss Annah Shepherd, all of Taylor county; Rev. B.C. Brooks, officiating.

A sad scene - Mrs. W. L. Bateman found dead in White Water Creek. Happened one mile below Bateman and Colbert Mill. For several days she showed signs of insanity. Prevented from killing herself with poison. Wednesday night, after everone had retired, she left the house and ran into the creek. Body was found Thursday in an upright poition with arms folded. Interred in the cemetery near her home. She was Ann Shepherd and was in the 54th year of her age. Married W. L. Bateman for about 8 years. Leaves husband and was sister of P. G. Shepherd and Mrs. J. B. Fowler, Jr. Freewill Baptist. |
