Anders Amundson Kloster 1847-1931 (with beard) was the son of Amund & Carrie Kloster who immigrated from Norway. Anders and his wife Inger Quale-Kloster 1855-1915 reared 7 children on this farm near Ossian Iowa that they inherited from Amund Kloster. The adult family is standing around the family gravestone, Emma Kloster Stangeland, wife of Joseph A. Stangeland, stands to the right her parents. The mid life extended family is gathered in front of the old farm home, and the young family in the inset is seated in front of a family home in Decorah Iowa. The car is Joseph & Emma Stangeland's 1915 Paige, it was considered a luxury car of the time so it shows that farming in the early years of the 20th century was very profitable. None of the children stayed with the Kloster farm, it was sold and the house went to ruin in the 1940's and was lost. We're extremely lucky to have these few photographs of our early Kloster relatives and homes, most were lost over the decades.
